Category:
Grade: Star
Duration: 14 days
Minimum Altitude: 1300 meters
Maximum Altitude: 5923 meters
Departure: Mar, Apr, May, Sep, Oct, Nov

Since it was first climbed in 1947, Paldor Peak ( 5923 m )which is situated to the north of Kathmandu Valley, has been a major attraction as trekking peak among alpine adventure seekers. Majestically standing between Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung, it commands superb views of these and other peaks including Manaslu. Despite being under 6000 metres, you need to negotiate steep sections of snow and ice to reach the summit. Climbers can either choose to follow the southeast ridge or the northeast ridge or a combination of both to reach the summit. Normally speaking one High Camp is set after base camp to make the attempt on the summit, and this can be achieved in 6-7 hours, provided the weather conditions are favourable.

Like most trekking peaks and mountaineering expeditions in the Himalayas , the approach to and return from the peak give you opportunity to experience the dual pleasures of trekking and climbing and everything that comes in between, before and after. The shortest and best route to the mountain is via Syabru Besi which happens to be the entry point for all treks in the Langtang Valley. A comparatively much longer but more exciting route goes through Sundarijal via helambu and Gosaikunda. No matter which route you may choose to take, you will be guaranteed a thorough exploration of the picturesque Langtang Valley since the peak is located to its north.
