If the full version of the Annapurna Circuit seems a daunting prospect or if there are time constraints, this mini version will give you an opportunity to experience the diversity of the landscape and scenery. Guided by the Marshyangdi River, our trek commences in Besi Sahar along and through paddy and rhododendron forest. The scenery transforms quite remarkably as we proceed above the Manang village to a higher altitude with the land becoming more barren or drier till we make a steady ascent to cross Thorong La at 5416 meters or 17,765 feet. You can get superb views of the Annapurna Massif from this point.
The descent from this point takes us down to spend a night at Muktinath, a pilgrimage site and with its temple revered by Hindus and Buddhists alike who come to see the “burning water” until we complete our trek in the predominantly Tibetan settlement of Jomsom. The full circuit Annapurna trek requires trekkers to proceed on foot from here down to the Kali Gandaki Gorge, but we will take a stunning and breathtaking flight out of here above the “World’s Deepest Gorge” to Pokhara and or to Kathmandu.
