Shisapangma Expedition

Grade: Star
Duration: 34 days
Maximum Altitude: 8013 meters
Departure: Feb, Mar, Apr, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec

Shisapanga ( 8013 m ), lying immediately to the north of Kathmandu along the Nepal-China border, is the highest in the Langtang and Jugal Himal ranges. It is a stunning peak that lies inside Tibet. It is a towering vertical giant that has caught the attention and interest of mountaineers from all over the world. Despite having the reputation of being one of the easier climbs among the eight-thousanders, it has seen its fair share of fatalities. Nepaltours offer well-equipped, highly skilled and safety conscious expeditions that are lead by seasoned Sherpa guides who have extensive knowledge of this peak.

Despite being located in Tibet, it is accessible from Kathmandu after a day’s drive. The base camp is set at an altitude of 5400 meters. For transport logistics, yaks are available from Base camp to Advanced Base Camp. En route to the summit, three other higher camps are established. As you proceed from the second higher camp, you will encounter a challenging ascent through a deep ditch in a vertical plane. After the third higher camp, the climbing entails traversing very sharp, knife-edged ridge before reaching the summit. Standing on the summit, you will be rewarded for your efforts with stunning panoramic views of the entire Langtang and Jugal range peaks that glisten in Himalayan wonder.
