Sun Koshi/Tamur: meaning – ‘The River of Gold’ Mt. Everest region (11 days)

This adventure packed journey is rated among the world’s top ten river journeys. The constantly changing scenery ensures that everyday is full of anticipation of Himalayan wonders. The initial part of the journey offers stunning mountain vistas, open valleys, lush green forests and charming Nepali villages. The concluding part of the trip takes you to the vast open expanses of the plains with the flourishing village of Chatara.

The initial part of the journey on the Sun Koshi provides fairly easy grade 3 rapids and this enables familiarization and teamwork to develop. As the river progresses across the country, the rapids gather volume and it is quite common for curious onlookers on the beach to lose sight of the rafts !

The classic Sun Koshi trip concludes with short drive and camping on the banks of the Tamur River. The following morning will see us rafting on thr Tamur River which has a succession of grade 4+ rapids ( approx. 30 of them ). We will rejoin the Sun Koshi and set up camp on the banks of the confluence. The next morning we raft onto Chatara and head back to Kathmandu. The extra day on the Tamur is an ideal way to conclude this adventure.

This trip is best suited for those who wish to combine calm and placid stretches of riverine scenery with a set of challenging rapids.
